Fourteen years of export compliance decisions

I’ve spent my career evaluating export controls across industries — defence, aerospace, semiconductors and technology — and one thing became clear: making the call isn’t enough. You have to be able to evaluate it, document it and defend it later.

Most of what I teach comes from that work — the practical experience of classifying real products, juggling EU, UK and US controls on the same transaction, building internal compliance programs and standing behind those decisions when they were questioned.

Over those years, one gap kept showing up. Most training tells you what the regulation says; very little of it teaches you how to actually reach a decision you can defend. That’s why I built the Export Compliance Academy around the C.L.E.A.R. framework — a repeatable method for getting from an ambiguous item to a documented, defensible call.

How I work

Plainly, and in the real world. I teach with real enforcement cases and the boundary calls that actually trip people up — the dual-use entry that looks military, the licence exception that doesn’t apply. In English and in Polish.
